Christmas is Coming!

Well, it is OFFICIALLY time to get ready for Christmas (although the stores thought differently)! We are thinking about getting the decorations and tree up this weekend, but then it may trickle into next week...How I would LOVE a tree in this shade! With magical mist included...
My dear friend gave me this stunning ornament, it is just SO pretty ~ I love Mercury glass, and Sparkle...and of course PARIS and the Tour Eiffel! I can't wait to find a special spot for it. A tradition that I started the first year my husband and I shared a Christmas together, was to purchase an annual ornament made of sterling or crystal each year ~ we have 15 or 16 now ( I have to count!).
Do you have any favorite traditions in your home?

I hope all of you in the US had a fantastic Thanksgiving...

Giving Thanks

"Oh Sugar Events" in Long Beach, California never ceases to "WOW" me! The detail, the design...and I am sure the taste...are over the top amazing! It is a busy week full of gratitude here, my youngest baby turns 9, we are hosting Thanksgiving chez nous, and have company coming. I am also in the midst of chairing a Wine Tasting to benefit my son's school, so things have been a bit crazy, with not much internet time. I want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving, and want you to know how grateful I am for your visits, comments, and friendship ~ it truly is the icing on the cookie!

Literature In The Streets

Literature and lights ~ How I'd love to have been in Melbourne to see this installation by Luzinterruptus of 10,000 discarded books lit with LED's in the streets...
The last day of the one month long installation, people were allowed to take them home. I love books, and would have needed a wheelbarrow I think! I wonder how many people put their cellphones, ipads, and kindles aside to peruse...

" A room without books is like a body without soul"

Or in this case it would be a street!

Has winter hit you yet? Overnight we went from 80's to 40's in the day...brrrr!The flannel sheets are on, the kitty is parked next to the fireplace, hot cocoa on the stove. I am liking it! Except for the days and nights of football and lacrosse practice...mondieu!

Have a wonderful week ahead,

Wow! Here's some pictures to lighten up your week! At the Nabana no Sato botanical gardens on the island of Nagashima in Japan, they have the Illuminated Light Festival going on until March 31, 2013.

How remarkable it would be to see this in person ~ I just love lights, I think that is one of my favourite things about Christmas....speaking of which, I saw a home completely over the top decked out in Christmas lights last night. Do you think that's too early? We always wait until the day after Thanksgiving...How about you?

I couldn't resist sharing these pastel kitties by Tim Walker...I think I would have to take them all, love them!

Have a great week!

Election day! Finally it's here...
I hope that if you can vote, you are exercising your rights today ~ As I am still a Canadian (who has been in the US for almost my entire life), I can not vote...
But if you have the right, use it!

"How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.
At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow." -   Elsie N. Brady, Leaves

November 1st, and the weather changed immediately was dark as can be when my alarm went off...and I see the leaves fluttering off of the trees. So much going on this month, with our election here, the East Coast needing tender care after Sandy,  and my little baby turns 9 on the 21st (where did those years go?) Thanksgiving to be planned... my favourite holiday!

In the midst of the chaos, I think November reminds us to be thankful...
You can always find something to be thankful for, that's what my Grandmother has always said...

My wish for you is that your thankful list is long!
