Repeat After Me...

It sounds good, doesn't it?

Set the table...
with your resolutions,
and don't forget some sparkle!

Bubbles help to get in the mood for success ~

Put your dancing shoes on...

until you shake the old out of you!

A New Year, a New Start...

Just don't forget the Basics...

And put it all out into the Universe!

I am so thankful to all of you who stop by to visit...
I enjoy all of my blogging friendships immensely, and I look forward to another year of sharing and caring. The year's end was trying for me with carpal tunnel pain, limiting my computer use, and limiting the use of my hands in my work...
But I am ready to shine on in 2013, after a quick and unplanned surgery (that was MAGNIFICENT, much better than expected! I highly recommend doing it if you are suffering)....and I am quickly on the mend, and will be visiting ALL of you to say Hello,
Buon Giorno,
And Don't Forget Your Sparkle
for 2013!!!

Looking Ahead

Oh I am in love with these shots of Paris in a bubble by Melvin Sokolsky for Harpers Bazaar, shot in 1963!
You can see the rest of the shoot here...

This captures my mood at the moment, I feel like I have been in a bubble with the sudden onslaught of carpal tunnel that came on, making it painful to do just about anything. I will be having surgery this friday for it, and am looking forward to popping this bubble and having my life back! And having the fingers to type away and visit and
wish you ALL a Happy Holiday Season!

The Only Decoration on My Tree...

Here's my only decoration so far!
I am terrified to add any ornaments ~ it is obvious I will have to find another spot for all of my crystal lovelies!!!

Do any of you have kitties that love trees?

Christmas is Coming!

Well, it is OFFICIALLY time to get ready for Christmas (although the stores thought differently)! We are thinking about getting the decorations and tree up this weekend, but then it may trickle into next week...How I would LOVE a tree in this shade! With magical mist included...
My dear friend gave me this stunning ornament, it is just SO pretty ~ I love Mercury glass, and Sparkle...and of course PARIS and the Tour Eiffel! I can't wait to find a special spot for it. A tradition that I started the first year my husband and I shared a Christmas together, was to purchase an annual ornament made of sterling or crystal each year ~ we have 15 or 16 now ( I have to count!).
Do you have any favorite traditions in your home?

I hope all of you in the US had a fantastic Thanksgiving...

Giving Thanks

"Oh Sugar Events" in Long Beach, California never ceases to "WOW" me! The detail, the design...and I am sure the taste...are over the top amazing! It is a busy week full of gratitude here, my youngest baby turns 9, we are hosting Thanksgiving chez nous, and have company coming. I am also in the midst of chairing a Wine Tasting to benefit my son's school, so things have been a bit crazy, with not much internet time. I want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving, and want you to know how grateful I am for your visits, comments, and friendship ~ it truly is the icing on the cookie!

Literature In The Streets

Literature and lights ~ How I'd love to have been in Melbourne to see this installation by Luzinterruptus of 10,000 discarded books lit with LED's in the streets...
The last day of the one month long installation, people were allowed to take them home. I love books, and would have needed a wheelbarrow I think! I wonder how many people put their cellphones, ipads, and kindles aside to peruse...

" A room without books is like a body without soul"

Or in this case it would be a street!

Has winter hit you yet? Overnight we went from 80's to 40's in the day...brrrr!The flannel sheets are on, the kitty is parked next to the fireplace, hot cocoa on the stove. I am liking it! Except for the days and nights of football and lacrosse practice...mondieu!

Have a wonderful week ahead,

Wow! Here's some pictures to lighten up your week! At the Nabana no Sato botanical gardens on the island of Nagashima in Japan, they have the Illuminated Light Festival going on until March 31, 2013.

How remarkable it would be to see this in person ~ I just love lights, I think that is one of my favourite things about Christmas....speaking of which, I saw a home completely over the top decked out in Christmas lights last night. Do you think that's too early? We always wait until the day after Thanksgiving...How about you?

I couldn't resist sharing these pastel kitties by Tim Walker...I think I would have to take them all, love them!

Have a great week!

Election day! Finally it's here...
I hope that if you can vote, you are exercising your rights today ~ As I am still a Canadian (who has been in the US for almost my entire life), I can not vote...
But if you have the right, use it!

"How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.
At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow." -   Elsie N. Brady, Leaves

November 1st, and the weather changed immediately was dark as can be when my alarm went off...and I see the leaves fluttering off of the trees. So much going on this month, with our election here, the East Coast needing tender care after Sandy,  and my little baby turns 9 on the 21st (where did those years go?) Thanksgiving to be planned... my favourite holiday!

In the midst of the chaos, I think November reminds us to be thankful...
You can always find something to be thankful for, that's what my Grandmother has always said...

My wish for you is that your thankful list is long!

Henri, Le Chat Noir

What a strange week this is...full of concern for friends on the East Coast being ravaged by Sandy ~ And Halloween is tomorrow, mid-week makes it quite different.

To all of you being affected by Sandy, I send my prayers ~

And I share a little humour ~ "Henri, Le Chat Noir"...
Perhaps you have seen these before, this one is new, for Halloween.
Cat lover and french film admirer that I am, these make me smile :)

You can find out more about Henri HERE on his Facebook page.

With my best wishes to all,

The Weekend is Here!

I recently came across pictures of "punch hole clouds,"
or "fallstreak clouds" as they are also known...

Have you heard of these before, or seen them?

They are so beautiful! I was thinking about the sky, after reading on Goop (Gwyneth Paltrows site) about "Headspace." "Headspace" is all about meditating, and I signed up for the learn to meditate in 10 minutes for 10 days. He has some very interesting short videos that made meditation very clear and concise for me. One of them is relating the mind to the sky. It is always there, beautiful and blue, but some days you can't see the blue because of the clouds...but you need to know the clouds will pass and the blue will be there. Rambling, I know...I recommend popping over there to see for yourself!

Look at this cloud! Spectacular...

And my favourite cloud...

The temperatures are dropping here, it is getting downright chilly ~ this soup with grilled cheese croutons looks absolutely DE-LISH, doesn't it?!
On my menu tonight, yum!

Do you meditate? I know how important it is, but have a difficult time with it, no matter how hard I try...I like the approach on Headspace.

Have a peaceful and relaxing weekend,
xo, Nathalie

Mad For Monday!

Monday is here, full of promise...I always feel that if Monday goes well, it sets the pace for the week, don't you?

I am just blown away with the amazing cookie creations like the ones above by Oh Sugar Events ~
I subscribe to her blog just to see what she will come up with next. I used to fancy myself a decent cookie decorator, but not anymore! She has a tutorial on adding a Baroque frame to a sugar cookie HERE.
Corn maize anyone? The ones I used to run through were nothing like the ones designed by Brett Herbst. He designs them with computers and GPS. See more of his work here on Wired.

These burlap mats by Cottage and Vine on Etsy are great! They brought to  mind this tutorial I saw on how to print on burlap with a printer yourself. Thinking about a table runner perhaps with verse for my spare time!

This wreath by Book BW on Etsy is beautiful...starting to think about my Christmas decor...

And nothing like a pop of Hermes orange to finish off the post...
My favourite!
These playing cards are just exquisite!

Have a wonderful week!

And Friday Is Here!

Friday has come again, so quickly the week flew by!
Starting off with the excitement of my 900th sale on Etsy, and a week full of sales to Greece, Australia, Japan, Spain, Canada, and the USA...How the Internet has opened doors for little business people like me!
I am in love with this traditional Chinese leaf carving that I spied over at Lost at E Minor ...Mona au naturel! See more of them here ~

And have a wonderful weekend!

Wednesday Wandering

A few of my favorites that I have recently come across ~

These glowing tree stumps by Judson Beaumont would be divine for an outdoor soiree, wouldn't they?

On my to-do list ~ a sequined pumpkin like this one by Nony Tochterman...too fabulous! She tells you how to do it here.

What a beautiful way to remember to be thankful, with this spoon garland by Spooner Z.

Carafe Un Verre, a carafe with a wine glass inside that fills up...and empties! By Claudio Colucci. This would be a good conversation piece at the Thanksgiving table!

I always admire a great kitchen, and this one in the Glen 2961 House by SAOTA in Cape Town, South Africa looks absolutely divine...

From my favorite store..
I am addicted to their latest product!

Have a wonderful week!
