For the Love of Toiles De Jouy

I am crazy about toile, in all shapes sizes colors and designs. They originated from Jouy-en-Josas, a little town near Versailles southwest of Paris, in the 17th through 19th centuries. Each design had a name, and many represented stories from mythology or told of village life. I love using classic and children's toile in my work, and also have it surrounding me in my home. I love to see the different unique interpretations that many people do with toile. I particularly like the Paris toile below by Matt& fun!
This adorable little matryoshka doll above is to die for! You can see more here at Fambeeland.

My entire house would be covered in toile if I could re-do it all.

The Little Things in Life...Target's New Look

Okay am I truly crazy to be posting about Target??? But since they started their chic makeover several years back, hiring the hottest designers to design lines for them, who doesn't LOVE Target? I am 5.5 minutes from this new Target that opened Sunday. I have eagerly been watching construction for the past year. I have to say that I was pretty WOWED at their "New Look"... Impressive, to say the least.

More modern streamlined look...
If you are thirsty, Starbucks is readily available
The clothing area is now set up more like a department store
The Boys were BLOWN AWAY at the large selection of Lego's unavailable anywhere else... guess where they are begging to go every day now - when does school start???

A MUCH larger selection of food items
Oh My! Target now offers FRESH stop shopping
Her lipsticks and gloss are great!

Escaping the Vegas Heat at Mount Charleston

When the heat gets to 112, in the car we hop to drive the 30 minutes to Mount Charleston. At almost 10,000 feet, we easily lose 20 to 30 degrees and can breathe again! It is such a treat to live so close to such mountainous beauty, and in the winter we come up to sled and will try the Ski Resort with the boys this year (YES, you can ski in Las Vegas...who knew!)
Looking for bears (wrong State thank goodness!)

The HUGE black bumblebee alighting on this flower sounded like a helicopter descending!

Fashion in Films

I have PATIENTLY been waiting for "Valentino; The Last Emperor" to arrive here in Las Vegas. I put myself on the fan list, requesting it's presence. FINALLY my prayers were answered, and it is coming the end of the month! I am very excited, I heard that it was amazing. In anticipation for this one, I started thinking of a few other fashion classics...
"The September Issue", about fashion maven Anna Wintour, promises to be a good one!

I have always wanted to see this classic, and found it at the local library. Vanessa Redgrave is stunning, so cool. Perfect showcase of Sixties fashion in mod London. This led me to pull "Belle de Jour" out of my library, with the all time classic french beauty Catherine Deneuve. The hair , makeup and fashion are really amazing. Both films slightly on the dark side, but isn't that de rigeur for most european films? Now I am on the search for "Il Gattopardo" , The Leopard", by Visconti, with Claudia Cardinale.

I Have Found My Dream Home And Am Moving...

Oh I am in love...Richard Tuil, a designer and architect, designed this 14,000 square foot home in The Hollywood Hills. He designed it to be an expression of love and joy after his mother Allegra, whose name means joy. The asking price is 15.9 million...I wonder how negotiable he is?

I would never find my boys with 8,000 square feet of patio space. Who would need to go to the gym? Running around the house would keep you in excellent shape!

Care for a dip after lunch? The dining area opens up onto one of the two swimming pools.
Simply divine... I love the open floor plan
The outdoor living room is where I would be spending much of my it!

Movie night would be quite spectacular in the Ballroom that converts into a theatre with an HD projector and wet bar. Seats 18 comfortably.

Cocktails, anyone? Just touch a button to have the projection screen retract, and enjoy apres film conversation and views.

One would feel like Hollywood Royalty waking up in the Master Bedroom, which has a 15 1/2 foot sliding glass door opening out to an outdoor spa and 100 foot infinity pool
Who needs to go to the Spa when you have your own Roman style spa at home?

The upper level of four is set up for entertaining - I can just picture the soirees that I could have!
Looking out at these views of the city and sea every day could make you giddy...

Swimming under the stars in the infinity pool with these views would be a delight!

Happy Fireworks Day!!!

Happy Fourth of July from Las Vegas! We are keeping cool by the pool, and waiting to watch the 4 or 5 firework displays that we can see from our yard. We actually have an explosion of color all over our yard from yesterday's wild "Messy Art Party" that I hosted. A ton of fun, I will post some pictures later of it. I still need to recuperate...
